Trip back home

Last summer
Summer holidays passed to quickly, i've had the most fun time when im at home with my family, with eid celebrations, my sister's birthdays, grandmas birthday..shopping, eating, sleeping ..i could not ask for more.

my trip home was even more fabulous and was not expected of..

we started our journey from Kursk to Moscow the usual way, by mashrut..we got to the airport, checked in our bags and boarded the plane to Dubai..

This time the layover was in Dubai's newest terminal, Terminal B, it was a bit smaller than terminal A but nevertheless magnificent..(every time i land in Dubai, its a different layout all over, i got lost countless times thinking it was like the old one, only to find out that it was a separate building all together from what i was usually used to..a.k.a Terminal A)

Since our transit was more than 4 hours we had a choice of different restaurants for our breakfast...naturally we chose the all-you-can -eat breakfast...it was delicious, it had not much choice but the sandwiches, bread, samosas were really wonderful

the choice of meals

was really hungry at that moment
some of the food we caught

after breakfast we went to freshen up, then we had a walk through the terminal and we found a free costa vending machine, at first i was casually looking at what the people were doing there, and this Costa lady came up to me and said it was free, Costa was giving out free drinks!...it was 1/2 an hour before our next flight to Kuala Lumpur, we took the chance anyway

that's him figuring out what to order

the Latte being made

enjoying his fruits of labor
thats me trying to gulf down the latte as fast as possible, because our gate was calling

Just as we thought it could not get any better we were upgraded to Business class for the Moscow-Kuala Lumpur flight..i was ecstatic beyond words, both of us was upgraded .. a once in a lifetime opportunity, since we were only students and in tight budgets, we have never ever dream of getting into business class
happiest person on earth!

our personalized mini bar

personal tv

me trying not to be too excited

the personal tab

adjustable seats

His and hers complementary toileteries

found the mini bar, which i thought was the coolest thing

getting the opportunity, right before landing

the whole experience was wonderful, i had the most comfortable sleep in an airplane yet, with the seat being able to be turned into a full size bed, and since i am only 149cm tall, i slept like a baby..
the food was however a bit disappointing, i was so used to having the economy class ones, which were a plate full of good food, however in business class you only had certain choices..
the service was 5/5..the attendants were really friendly and most of all, understanding..well you know, we were first timers and we wanted to document our journey and took pictures, but hey the other kids started to follow suit, the also started taking pictures (pssshh, riding in business class like a boss)

then the journey ended when we reached Kuala Lumpur, .. checked in to our final destinations which was to the opposite poles of Malaysia...
had our last meal together

and said our goodbyes .. -_-

Birthday Post

it's a week late but a have a bit of spare time now, so i decided to post about my birthday

22nd of June was a Saturday and it was actually a sad day for the Russians, it was according to my Professor, the day when the Russian army fell during world war II..

anyway, as i am quite a foodie, people actually gave me food instead of other presents, not complaining or anything, im just happy that people remembered.

cake and drink:by my lovely BF, and the chocolate was from a batchmate, it was a surprise though to receive the chocolate form him..
it may look a bit sad, as there was no celebrations with friends and all, it was exam period plus i don't have that many friends here anyway...
and I'd hate to pretend to be happy around people whom i dislike, it takes so much energy from me..

a day break

June 12
one day holiday for the Russians, i searched on the internet and found out that it is Russian day today, well my biggest congratulations to my friends and teachers whom are Russians.

and soo

i woke up early, and did all my house chores, cleaning the kitchen, laundry, watched a little bit of criminal minds, watched youtubers on youtube, had lunch and lastly took a cold shower.

then i decided to pamper myself with a little bit of DIY facial, with these products, a scrub, a mask and a toner
i had bought the Vitrum Scrub and Vitrum facial mask from a Magnit cosmetic shop near Kocuhina, (i had fun there, plus there were more choices of cosmetic items then Letual) and the Wonder Pore from House of Etude back in Malaysia, (this big bottle had lasted me more than 8 months now and its finishing, good to know that i will be able to purchase a new one when i get back home soon :) )

the Scrub had little micro beads and large micro beads, there was no perfume added (i could not smell any) it only smelt of chemicals, i did it's job very well, my skin felt smooth after.

then i did the mask, one thing that i find interesting in Russia is that whenever i buy a face masks here, it always turns to be the creamy type, i was confused at first because it had a facewash consistency, so i did had to double check on what i put on my face....the mask was velvety and easy to apply, it did not sting when applied, which i find really helpful, because there were masks out there which stings when i apply them on my face. Had the mask on for about 20 minutes then I rinsed it, wait for my face to dry, and applied the toner..

now that it's all done, i can carry on with my finals studying now, Operative Surgery here i come!

thats all for now...smile cause the sun's shining

Dissapointments and stuffs

a few weeks back i went through some enlightening moments of my student life, here in this Med school,
all i could take out from those dark moments was that, it happened for a reason, He wanted to show me the true colors of my 'friends' , of whom i trusted so much, of whom i treated ever so kindly, but only to be back stabbed/ used at the end of the day.....and then thrown away like a piece of tissue paper after blowing their runny noses

i was really disappointed at that time, and angry at myself, on how foolish i was to think that every person i knew and treated like a dear friend would do such things to me..

well now that all anger and disappointment issues have been sorted, i can now move on with my life, i've cut my ties with all of you, so i can be happy, i don't have to be pretentious in class anymore, so i could get accepted by you guys (cause i know that you are no better than me).. you can judge me, you can talk trash behind me, but i know better than to react to your stupid  clever comments....

what and how i am acting in class is a mirror and a consequence of your actions my dear 'friends' so don't you go get upset, about how i treat you now, cause i'm just giving you a taste of your own medicine, so yeah....

let me be in my own world, let me be happy, stop with all your complaints about life, about how terrible the teacher is (if only he knew what you guys talk behind his back, if only...) which made me think why did they take down that FB page...

Chocolate review #1

Yay it's that time again! where i get to eat different flavored chocolates.
Chocolates were on sale in Kursk, go to the Hyperlinear in Sumskaya, however i warn you, that only certain items are on sale.. if you are not on a student budget go ahead, Russia really does offer you a variety of chocolates (unlike Malaysia, you could only see the famous ones like cadburry, tobelarone, kitkat and etc, which is kind of boring)

#1
Milk chocolate with hazelnut and berries.
Overall the taste was not too sweet and it still had a hint of bitterness after taste, however, the i could not really taste the hazelnut nor the berries, but it was there, in little chunky pieces.
i thoroughly enjoyed it and finished it in one sitting which was bad for my so called healthy diet.
the downside of this chocolate is that it was thin, it was a thin piece of chocolate bar.

#2
Dark chocolate with a hint of star-anise and cinnamon
it was a little too dark for me, as i only tasted bitterness, it was not overwhelmingly sweet, but i think the sweetness came form the natural glucose form the chocolate themselves as i find to taste the sweetness as an aftertaste.
on the packaging you could see a picture of star-anise and cinnamon, but i doubt they put loads in, or maybe those herbs enhances the taste of chocolate but the individual flavors themselves don't actually become prominent? i guess it may be the reason (i am not a fan of star-anise or cinnamon)
the only reason i bought this chocolate, was that my BF really likes chocolate, especially dark ones, so we decided to give it a try.
He loves it but i don't, which is a plus for him cause he gets to eat the whole thing..

#3
this one was my favorite, as you can see it's form the Alpine Gold line (this brand offer you a lot of choices in terms of flavors, so far all the flavors i have tried, they have turned out to be really nice)
this flavor attracted my attention because it had salt flakes on their almond! if translated it does say salted and caramelized almonds. (i'm all in if the nuts are salted and caramelized)
the taste: it was sweet and salty, a very good combination in a chocolate bar, it was crunchy, it had loads of nuts in it which i really appreciated because you could really taste the almonds.
there was no horrible aftertaste to the chocolate which i was hoping so, since it was salted, i was not looking forward to having a salty mouth aftertaste.

that is all for today

Summer Barbecue time!

Every year, in summer, without fail we hold an annual get together.
It's only appropriate that we do a BBQ since Kursk has so many large spaces and very beautiful parks.

However, this year we were a bit saddened by the news of the death of a fellow Malaysian who goes to our University, a junior of second year, he drowned while BBQ-ing with his friends (that's what i heard).

Plus, this year there was an exceptional case of Ticks infestation, i was told that they carry Lyme disease, since i passed my biology in first year, i know well enough not to get infected, so we decided not to do our BBQ at our usual place at the "Arka", we just went to 4th Hostel, it was still beautiful there.

and so this year i volunteered to make the side dishes, which includes Som Tam ( a Thailand cold noodle salad) and potato wedges.

i started my day at 7 am, i began to cook, those 2 dishes for 6 people...i think i overestimated the quantity. .mmmm
.
I went to meet my groupmates at 11.30 in the hostel, and the rest is kind of self explainatory

here are some of the pictures i took (i took up my camera and began shooting again after a hiatus of 3 years, i think i'll explain in other entries)

 the chicken! yumssss
 the squid! yumssss
the groupmates, missing the photographer! Lee Kuen, Evan, Lionel, Ibra, Me, Indra (he looks a bit sad there)
 the fire
the BF!

and the day ended with a shower of rain....Alhamdulillah!
